Launceston Drama Society

FOLLOWING 10 months' absence due to complete renovation of the town hall roof, Launceston Amateur Dramatic Society (LADS) is now back in the town hall with two exciting plays.

Pity About Kitty is a humorous, articulate and painful observance of human nature, one of Jimmie Chinn's most intriguing and sensitive plays. A popular staff nurse is giving evidence at a medical tribunal investigating a patient's death. Support she feels she can count on diminishes in the cause of self-interest.

Interior Designs another of Chinn's plays deals with real life situations. Him, played by one of LADS' leading actors Phill Blackwell (seen recently on X Factor), plays an odd job man. The play follows three women yearning to fill the emptiness in their lives, and their various attempts to trap the eligible Him.

He departs leaving a surrealist abyss of desperation.

LADS entered Pity about Kitty in the Cornwall One Act Play Festival held in March of this year at St Austell and was part of the All England Theatre Festival achieving high marks for a quality performance.

These two one act plays were performed at the town hall on Friday, September 12 and Saturday, September 13.

The Launceston Society runs three theatre groups adults, starting stars (seven to 11 years) and the youth theatre group (12-18). For information contact 01579 362269. www.launceston-amateur-dramatic-society.co.uk
