2005: Robinson Crusoe and the Pirates; Tons of Money; Blue Remembered Hills.

My main role in "Robinson Crusoe and the Pirates" was the Medicine Man (The scary leader of the cannibals on the desert island scenes in Act 2), although I had some chorus line parts, including starting the panto by playing a harmonica solo as a fisherman in the village. The medicine man part required me to sing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" in falcetto.

"Tons of Money" was the follow-up production by LADS, and I was cast as Sprules the Butler. A wiley character, Sprules required a rather butler-like accent when around his superiors and yet a crafty cockney style when in the company of his nearest and dearest. A very funny farce, and a pleasure to play the part.

I ended the year performing in "Blue Remembered Hills" as Raymond, a 7 year old boy with an extreme stutter. Based in the West Country during WW2, this told the story of 7 children and how they interacted with each other, sometimes imitating adults, sometimes being friends, occasionally bullying one another, often with funny results but ultimately with a terrible outcome where one of the children, Donald (the object of much of the bullying) loses his life in a barn fire... I loved doing this play so much, as I had to re-learn being a child, and it was a real challenge which I relished. The other members of the cast were also such high quality that I found it so much easier to interact and get into the part. Wonderful memories....
